What We Do

At the heart of our commitment to sustainability and mitigating climate change lies a profound belief in the power of community collaboration and empowerment. We recognize that communities are not just inhabitants of the land, they are the custodians of its rich heritage, and more significantly, the stewards of customary land rights. It is through this transformative partnership that we aim to drive meaningful change and address the environmental challenges of our time.

At GHG Actions, collaboration is one of our core values, inspiring us to work in unison with not only the local communities but also government agencies, NGOs, and experts across relevant fields in driving climate mitigation efforts forward. Together, we forge pathways toward a more sustainable and resilient future, leaving a lasting positive impact on both the environment and the communities we serve.

Our approach to our mission is multifaceted, encompassing a diverse range of services meticulously tailored to align with the specific needs and aspirations of each community. These services encompass social, biodiversity, forestry, and Ecosystem Services Outcomes (ESO).

Through GHG Actions’ social services, we prioritize understanding the needs and values of local communities. We conduct comprehensive research that includes gathering data on socio-economic variables like income, access to health services, education, and place of residence while recognizing and respecting customary land rights of the community as something that cannot be separated from the locals’ daily lives. By establishing a baseline for socio-economic development in the concession area, we can ensure that our nature conservation efforts align with the community’s needs and support their socio-economic development. We believe that community involvement is key to sustainable nature conservation. We are committed to respecting their land rights and involving them in all aspects of our work to build a better future for all.

GHG Actions is committed to preserving biodiversity in the concession area, including coastal biodiversity, through various services, including biodiversity management. We conduct research to establish a baseline for the area’s plants, animals, and coastal life and regularly monitor and update our findings. This includes identifying endangered species, especially those on the IUCN Red List, and taking measures to protect and conserve them. Through our biodiversity management service, we ensure that our forest and coastal conservation efforts also support the long-term health of the local ecosystem, both on land and in the sea, and the communities that depend on it.

GHG Actions forestry service includes forest management based on the findings on biodiversity. We use various techniques to ensure the forest is managed sustainably and maximizes its carbon sequestration potential. This includes carbon accounting, auditing, and management, as well as measuring and reporting on the Economic Services Outcomes of the forest. Through our forestry service, we can balance biodiversity conservation with the economic benefits of the forest while contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.

GHG Actions is committed to promoting Ecosystem Services Outcomes (ESOs) to generate income and improve local communities’ livelihoods. By cultivating water, honey, soil, eco-tourism, and other ESOs, communities can benefit themselves and people outside the community. To achieve this, GHG Actions works closely with local communities to educate and promote the importance of ESOs, and to help them make choices that support sustainable and equitable development. By doing so, GHG Actions is helping to maintain the critical benefits that ecosystems provide to humans, such as fresh air, good water quality, and reducing risks of extreme weather events, while also creating opportunities for local champions to participate fully in the wider world.
